Borneo in $840s-$890s RT

There are plenty of cool things to see in Kota Kinabalu (floating mosque, anyone?), but no one can resist the lure of the Bornean jungle for long.

Your closest access point will be stunning Kinabalu National Park, Malaysia's first UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most ecologically diverse spots in Southeast Asia. It's especially renowned for its carnivorous plants and giant invertebrates (over 100 different species of land snails!), but it also has some more, uh, appealing wildlife like gibbons, slow lorises, horned lizards, sun bears, and a ton of colorful birds.

There are some orangutans in the park too, but they're pretty shy, so you might have to trek out to the Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary to catch a glimpse of mankind's chillest cousins.
