Hey there, JFC-ers,

Today I'm coming to you from the comfort of the Glasgow Airport departures lounge.

Like many others, the airport is currently having its security scanners upgraded to the shiny new machines that mean you don't have to remove all your liquids and electronics from your cabin bags. In theory, this should make everything faster, right?

Well, somehow, they're not quite there yet. Despite all the futuristic devices being in situ, the scanning and checking process took much longer than with the old machines; bags were backed up on the belt, the lines of disgruntled travellers extending every direction.

Thankfully, I made it to my gate in good time, though unfortunately the same can't be said for the 99 passengers who missed their morning flight to Porto. Welcome to the beginning of the summer travel chaos! And for more airport shenanigans across the pond, just keep reading…
