Cheap Flights During School Breaks - do the stars ever align?

Hi there, JFC-ers!

This week has seen fresh new tales of strange flight delays and diversions, a couple of which really caught my attention — like the flight from New York to Tokyo that turned back 12 hours into a 14-hour journey due to a “technical issue”. Ouch.

Somehow, I suspect it could have felt even worse to be among the passengers on this A380, which was stuck on the tarmac at JFK for 1.5 hours. Knowing that you’ve already endured the 14-hour flight, landed, and now you’re so close to that Big Apple, you can almost crunch it.

All it took was one simple wrong turn when taxiing to the gate, and the plane became lost in the black hole of JFK traffic choreography. Unsurprisingly, it comes in handy to know your left from right while in the cockpit.

If any of you have ever fallen foul of unusual diversions or absurd delays, please get in touch. We’d love to know where, when, why, and how the airline handled it! Just hit ‘Reply’ to share your story.

In the meantime, happy travels and safe landings,

Katy - Editor of The Detour
