Here, life moves at the same pace as one of these guys...sloooow. The Internet connection can be patchy and there isn't an ATM in town. But trust us, technology will be the last thing on your mind when you're snorkelling with turtles or glimpsing a humpback whale.

As you can imagine, reaching this remote spot can be a little tricky. If you're on a budget, you can take a 6-hour bus from San Jose to Sierpe for around €15, then catch a taxi boat for around €20. Otherwise, you can also fly for around €150 one-way.
