Wrocław, Poland in £40s-£60s/€60s rtn

You've probably seen Tesco already has the mince pies out, and before you know it, you'll be crying at the John Lewis advert on TV. I know Halloween isn't for a couple of weeks, but who else has got Christmas on their mind? 

I've gotta be honest, I think even Scrooge would be checking out Wrocław for his market fix. 

Once you've had your fill of mulled wine, you can walk the City Moat, where you might spot a few (hundred) dwarf statues. There are 800 of these dotted all around the city and commemorate the Orange Movement—a 1980s anti-communist protest. 

And just like it's out of a Dickens novel, you could be lucky enough to see a lamplighter. Scrooge really would be at home!

FYI, for something a bit more fantastical, Narnia is only a 2-hour drive away :-)
