Puerto Rico
in $210s-$270s RT
Winter is peak travel season in Puerto Rico, so you'll probably want to head off the beaten path as soon as you get there. Luckily, this little island is jam-packed with things to see - with or without a crowd.
To get your beach fix, head down to Patillas on the island's southern coast. Nicknamed the "Emerald of the South" for the lush mountains surrounding it, Patillas maintains a sleepy vibe even during peak season - and the food at those little surf shacks is pretty terrific, too.
Speaking of the mountains, San Lorenzo is a quiet, rural spot nestled in the Cayey Mountain range. Tour the coffee plantation, listen to music at the town square, and then head for the secret waterfall hidden behind Colmado Bar González.
And if all else fails, there's one surefire way to avoid the crowds: just rent a boat and get out on the water.
