Winter in the UK? No, no, no. Winter in the Canary Islands? Yes, yes, yes.

Picture this: the open road, dusty plains as far as the eye can see, a scattering of cacti, and a movie-worthy sunset. Your favourite playlist blaring, warm skin, and salty air. Ahhh, I'm already there in spirit. 

Believe it or not, el vino does flow. This volcanic island surprisingly grows an abundance of grapes, so it's worth adding the unique vineyards and bodegas to the itinerary. It would be rude not to taste the local produce, right?

Away from the usual resorts, the island has an effortlessly cool energy. Famous for its incredible orange sunsets over mountainous scenery, Famara beach is a bit of a hot spot. And with stellar surf conditions, you might even be tempted to work on your pop-ups. 

It doesn't take much to keep us Brits happy, and with a local beer costing only a couple of euros island-wide, I think this one has it all :-)
