We've got a tough choice for you: The City of Salsa vs. the City of Eternal Spring Subwoofers… good thing they both have bangin' soundtracks!
Contrary to what you might think, salsa didn't originate in Cali but arrived via radio waves in the 1930s. The six-count cowbell pulsating from corner shops, taxis, and dentists might have you convinced otherwise. But it wasn't until the late 70s that it truly exploded, and by the time the legendary duo Richie Ray and Bobby Cruz sashayed into town, Caleños already had their lightning-fast footwork perfected.
A laundromat in Medellin, on the other hand, most likely blasts reggaeton into the streets. A slap-back echo hitting every corner of the valley reminds visitors this is the home of Karol G, J Balvin, and Maluma.
So what are you packing? Salsa heels or sneakers?
