First off, these surprisingly affordable flights to Kota Kinabalu are the best place to start. We usually only spot this route go cheap about once a year, so we wouldn't think too long about it before you book.

After you land, you can hop on a 7-hour bus to the world-famous Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Yes, it may be a long drive, but honestly, these tiny babies are completely worth it!

But if you want to see them truly in the wild, just stop by the Kinabatangan River and spend a few nights in a jungle lodge :-)
