Guatemala & El Salvador
in $190s-$350s RT
Guatemala or El Salvador, El Salvador or Guatemala... we don't envy those of you who will have to make that choice!
Fortunately, there's not really aĀ wrongĀ answer. Travel to Guatemala has been steadily growing in popularity for some time (makes sense ā have you seenĀ their views?) so El Salvador is definitely a little bit more off the beaten path. That could be a pro or a con, it just depends what you're looking for!
Both have active volcanoes and lush forests for hiking, but you'll want Guatemala for ruins and El Salvador for beaches. Tikal is one of the most important Maya sites, and that volcanic sand makes for some pretty nice shores.
And if you can't decide? You could always do both :-)
